Connecting Families To Needed Community Resources

Supporting, Connecting, & Educating Expectant + New Families In Need

Urban Baby Beginnings programs have been built through the support and feedback provided by individuals within the community. UBB seeks to preserve the community's voice in initiatives that matter, helping to transform communities by building strong support from within.

Community Engagement by UBB includes responding to natural disasters and crisis situations through our baby pantry popups which help teach families about their maternal care and newborn options while addressing the need for basic necessities.

We Are Here For You

Diaper Duty Pop Up

1 in 3 children experiences diaper need. While diapers and wipes are always our most needed items, some families often struggle with other essentials to help their babies thrive. At a diaper duty popup, families will learn about their options for prenatal care, birth, and newborn care while learning new skills to care for themselves and their family. Every participant will walk away with a comfort bag, skills to cope with stress, knowledge of resources, and a community of people that are walking this journey with them.

Prenatal Clinic Pop Up

Families often need to gather information pre-conception, prenatally and postpartum to feel informed, supported, and empowered to make some of the most important decisions in their lifetime. Prenatal clinics are designed to help families feel connected to surrounding resources while gaining access to valuable information including rights in childbirth, evidence-based care, and not only becoming an active participant but having a voice in their care.

Prenatal Yoga Pop Up

During pregnancy, families often find themselves wanting to live a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their unborn child yet are unsure of what activities are safe. With physician approval, prenatal yoga is a safe option for moms to increase their exercise while also helping them to connect with their mind and body during relaxing stretches, meditation, and more. Common pregnancy ailments are addressed in guided poses with other pregnant moms. Birth circles convene at the beginning of class to share, learn, and connect with others experiencing a similar journey. Our donation-based popup offerings include prenatal, postpartum, kids, and yoga for all abilities, giving mom the opportunity to find the right class for them.

Our Response to Virginia's Diaper Need

Through our family support programs, we have provided emergency support services to expectant and postpartum families and their children who are experiencing homelessness, medical challenges or a disaster in Virginia.

UBB supports an average of 7,500 families yearly through our member hubs. To date, Urban Baby Beginnings has donated over 5,600,000 baby essentials to families in need, and this number continues to grow.

Maternal Hubs - We Are More Than Diapers

UBB's partner program provides diapers to partners that are already helping families in need through comprehensive programs and services.  By working with organizations that are already well established in the community and currently working with families in need, Urban Baby Beginnings ensures that the diapers collected are distributed to infants and toddlers in the most efficient and timely manner. More facts can be found here.

For families in the midst of a crisis, a clean diaper can change everything.
